Permanent Christmas lights in Northville.
On a typical 60–180 ft Northville front, permanent lights run about $1,300–$6,100 once, priced at $22–34 per lit foot. The historic district climbs the hill above Main Street, where Victorians pair painted wood with steep gables and porch roofs.

Permanent lighting on a Northville Victorian: what we are working with.
The Victorians on the hill went up between the 1860s and the 1920s and were built to be looked at: steep front gables, porch roofs, painted clapboard, and trim cut into gingerbread, spindlework and fish-scale shingle. The channel follows the plain fascia and the drip edge in short segments, mitered at each gable and porch return, and we color it to the trim paint so it reads as one more painted board by day. LightCast prices the house from your photo, and we confirm that figure at the house before ordering anything. That visit is where we look at the paint and at the wood behind it. Sound fascia takes a fastener cleanly. Where the paint is lifting, the board has gone soft, or the rake is itself carved trim, we say so, and a leased display that clips on and leaves the woodwork alone is usually the better answer.
Then there is the hill itself. District lots step up the grade on retaining walls and stepped walks under old trees, and a ladder standing on that slope in a cold November drizzle is the one nobody should be on. Permanent track moves the climb into a single autumn visit, with ladder positions planned for the grade before anyone goes up. Away from the district the work gets simpler: the 1950s to 70s ranches and colonials in the surrounding ring are level eaves on one zone, and the 2000s infill in fiber cement and stone often sits on the same grades as the Victorians next door. Northville's city line runs along 8 Mile, Oakland County to the north and Wayne County to the south, and everything here describes the city as a whole.
Why Northville homeowners go permanent.
Commercial RGBW LEDs in a low-profile aluminum channel on the fascia, never through a shingle. Phone control, schedules, zones, rated for Michigan winters, with a warranty on the track and the diodes.
Gingerbread left out of it
The channel fastens to the plain fascia and the drip edge. Spindlework, fish-scale shingle and layered trim stay exactly as painted, with nothing clipped to them each winter and nothing to pull off them in January.
One climb on a hillside lot
Grade, retaining walls and mature trees make every ladder move slow and deliberate here. With permanent track that careful work happens once, in autumn, and the schedule takes every night after it.
An outline through bare branches
Heavy canopy shades much of the historic hillside in summer. A roofline that comes on at dusk shows through the bare winter branches from the street, in holiday color for December and warm white for the months that follow.
Book permanent track for autumn. Short Victorian runs and hillside ladder work take more planning than a level colonial, so the sooner you call, the more of the calendar you pick from.
Seasonal Christmas lights in Northville: the lease option.
Some Victorian trim should not take a single fastener, and some families want only the December look. The C9 lease suits both: our bulbs, a design around your painted detail, runs cut to fit and clipped up in November without harm to shingles or gutters, repairs all season, storage after the January takedown.
$18–32 per foot with a $595 minimum, which on a typical 60–180 ft Northville roofline is $1,100–$5,800 a year. At these prices a permanent channel costs about what one season of leasing costs, and from the second December on it is paid for. If you want the December-only look, or you may move within a year, the lease is the right call and we will say so.
The seasonal service is described in full on the Christmas light installation page at macombpowerwashing.com.

Things Northville homeowners ask first.
What does permanent lighting cost on a Northville Victorian?
The band is $22–34 per lit foot, and a Northville house pays it once. Victorians vary too much to share one figure, so each is measured from its own photo and confirmed on site. For comparison, a smaller two-story usually carries 100–150 ft of front roofline, roughly $2,200–$5,100, and a two-story colonial at 120–180 ft comes to about $2,600–$6,100. Extra gables and porch returns move a house toward the top of the band.
Will the fixture touch our gingerbread or painted trim?
Not where the house has a plain fascia board. The fasteners go into that board, or the channel rides just below the drip edge, never through a shingle, and its color is matched to your trim paint. We look at the paint and the wood during the on-site visit that confirms your number, before anything is ordered. Where the fascia is soft, the paint is failing, or the trim is too ornate to carry a mount, we say so and recommend the leased C9 display instead.
Does the historic district commission need to review it?
If your house is in the historic district, check with the city's historic district commission before you book. What you would describe to them is an aluminum channel, low in profile, that mounts on the fascia board or tucks beneath the drip edge, is colored to your trim, and never goes through a shingle.
How do you install on a hillside lot with retaining walls?
Ladder positions are planned for the grade before anyone climbs. It all happens in one autumn visit, which is the point: after that, nobody climbs the slope for the lights again.
Our street has big old trees. Will the lights get in the way of gutter cleaning?
No. Nothing is clipped to the gutter, so clearing leaves works the way it always has, and our crews clean gutters across Oakland County all year. The channel stays at the fascia, lit on its schedule through leaf season and the winter that follows.
